I got married young, and I loved every minute of it. My wedding day was one of the best days of my life. It was special for both my husband and me, as well as my friends and family. We did everything we could to make it as personal to us both as we could. Often I see people planning their weddings to be a big, grand affair, but they don’t take the time to think about the things that mean a lot to the couple. It is these differences that really make your wedding special. With that in mind, here are a few simple tips for making your wedding more personal and reflect you and your partner’s personalities on your wedding day.
Plan the invites
The wedding invitations and save the dates are your first step to making your wedding personalised. Choosing your wedding invitation designs can be so much fun for you and your partner. I have seen many invites that just utilize posh fonts and swirly patterns, which doesn’t scream much personality. Do something that means something to you and your partner, or, if you have the time, something that means something to the recipients. A photo or a memory is nice and simple, and will make it really special.
I went to a wedding where every person’s placeholder had a fun photo of the person and a handwritten message. This is a great way to get everyone talking. People who are sat on a table with people they don’t know, can share their placeholders and tell their story. Plus it is a nice little touch to make your friends and family feel valued.
Nowadays you can get so many cool party favors. From personalised M&Ms to engraved shot glasses, there is an abundance of choice for making your party favours unique.
Choosing your venue is another opportunity to add something personal into your marriage. You could think about hosting it in a place that is special to you and your partner. Perhaps your university or where you had your first date.
Engraving your ring will make it really special and unique to you. Maybe the date of the wedding or the name of a place that is special to you.
Think long and hard about the song you play for your first dance. Do you remember the song that was playing when you first saw your partner all those years ago? If it is appropriate, wouldn’t that make a nice choice? Or maybe you have a song that has become your song! You can also choreograph a dance rather than just swinging around in each other’s arms.
More and more people are tending to move away from the traditional white dress. Personally I wanted to wear a beautiful white dress and I loved every minute of it, but if that’s not your style then feel free to try something different. Try a bold color like red or blue, or add small embellishments onto a white dress.
