Getting married can be an expensive business. And why shouldn’t it be? It is meant to be one the best days of yours and your partner’s lives! My husband and I had the most beautiful day ever, so I totally get that you will want the best of everything on your special day. Trust me, there are plenty of ways to save money on your wedding, but the below list are all things I would completely recommend you to spend your budget on. These things are all really important for making sure your day is amazing.
This one is for the ladies, of course. Every woman dreams about her wedding dress, so don’t worry about the price tag. Worry instead about finding the right dress. Once you have found something that suits you perfectly, then you can start to think about the costs. This is the one day where you are meant to look and feel like a queen. Don’t sacrifice your dream dress because think you can save a bit of money.
Choosing the right wedding photographers is one of the most important parts of any wedding. If you are like me, you will love to look back on your photographs and remember the wonderful day you and your partner shared with your friends and family. Don’t risk ruining your precious memories with a photographer who doesn’t know how to capture the moment. Vet your photographer properly. Make sure they understand your vision and style. Review their portfolio to see the kind of thing they can produce for you.
I have been to many weddings where an open bar has not been an option. In my mind, if you are throwing a party, you should be catering to all your guests’ needs. And this includes drinks – alcoholic ones or otherwise. People don’t want to have to worry about bringing cash to fork out for a bottle of wine with dinner.
Whilst you may spend a lot of money on making sure your reception room is flawless, I can guarantee most people will forget these details quickly. It is the incredible (or not so incredible) food you serve that will stick in people’s minds. If you serve a gastronomic menu to your guests, they will be Instagramming and tweeting their dishes and it will be remembered forever!
Choose your DJ and your band carefully. If you’re envisioning a big brass band, the last thing you want to turn up is a death metal band! Or a DJ who ends up playing cheesy tunes when all you wanted was some modern pop music. People will want to be able to dance, so do your research thoroughly. Don’t be afraid to spend big on your favourite bands either. Do I need to keep reminding you that this is your special day?
This is for the couple, rather than the guests. Sometimes when people get married, they are so pre-occupied with making sure everything is going well that they forget to relax. This day is ultimately about you and your partner, so make sure you are both having FUN!
