I cannot believe it’s already the middle of September! That is crazy insane to me. I also can’t believe it’s the middle of September because that means I haven’t blogged in about twoish weeks. I said I was gonna be better this time. Must be better at blogging.
So, in an effort to be better, why don’t we just talk about some goals. I know this post was supposed to go out two weeks ago, but whatevs, I clearly missed that deadline. So, YTD I’ve been working on some pretty big goals, and I’m pretty happy with the outcome. So, let’s start with what I’ve posted goalwise this year (since it is all too apparent that I have NOT kept up with monthly goals):
One of my biggest, if not the biggest, goal for 2016 was to deepen my relationship with God, start a bible study and for Ryan and I to find a church home.
I’m about two-thirds the way there. Ryan and I have found a church we really love. We haven’t officially joined yet, but we are working on it. Fingers crossed it will happen this year.
The Bible study hasn’t happened yet. It’s been discussed with others just hasn’t come off the ground yet. I’ve just gotta stand up and be a leader about this – more on this next month hopefully.
My relationship has definitely been deepened this year. I’ve had to cling to God more than ever. I am so thankful for His strength, love and grace.
My second goal of 2016 was to work on myself. I want to be less of hot mess all the time, have my house clean and organized, and focus on losing some of the weight I’ve gained over the years (looking at you freshman 15).
So far I’ve been doing fairly well on this goal. I’m still a hot mess, but I’m more “put together” than not usually and my house is cleaner than before (maybe that might be a lie, it’s really dirty right now ?). I’ve also lost about 30 pounds since January, and I’m pretty proud of that. All in all, I think I’ll be able to check this goal off the list in December.
My final goal for 2016 is to strengthen and rebuild my friendships. After undergrad I was working full-time, going to grad school full-time and planning a wedding. Extra time went to Ryan, my husband, and I didn’t really carve out time for girlfriends like I should have done.
So, 2016 is the year of friendship. I think this goal is at about 50/50 currently. I feel so much closer to my friends than the last two years; however, we are all busier than ever now. We’ve got weddings, babies, new jobs, new boyfriends and many grownup responsibilities. So, while we might not see each other every week (or every two weeks to be completely honest), the time we do spend together is so precious and filled with so much bonding, love and grace.
I love goal updates! What are some goals you’ve been working on for 2016? I’d love to hear about them below!
